After 25 years of personal 35mm
film photography as an adult and 6 years owning a 1-hour photo minilab, I
bought my first digital camera in 1997. The digital camera’s instant feedback
renewed my interest in photography. I could now experiment without worrying
about film and developing costs.
During
July 2002 while in MauiI I saw some
wonderful, large canvas “paintings” of the local scenery. Each had very fine details and looked like a
“painting” that must have taken years to complete. After 20+ years of constantly upgrading my computers and color
printers, I suspected they were NOT hand painted, but were actually
Giclée prints, made from high-resolution digital files. I decided this was how
I should display my photography.
A
few months later, I purchased an Epson Stylus Pro10000cf large format Giclée
printer with archival* inks. After many test prints, my first large canvas
print “Hungry Koi” was completed. Over the next 2 years I made numerous canvas
prints. Through the encouragement of
family, friends, co-workers and Aromas Hills Artisans I began publicly selling
my photos at Aromas Day in September 2004.
Since
I love bold colors, I search for scenes rich with color and contrast. Although I enjoy all types of photography,
my most recent work involves landscapes.
I have been photographing
the beauty of California at Point Lobos State Reserve, Central Coast Beaches
and Yosemite National Park.
My
desire is to make large canvas prints that look like paintings detailed paintings.
